I’m sitting in the Albuquerque airport along with the GeekGrl and several other New Mexican ultrarunners, and some soon to be newly minted New Mexico ultrarunners (Pirate & Mo), getting ready to depart for the Bandera 100K. Bandera is supposed to be one of the tougher trails in Texas but is also supposed to be a really great race. It is put on by a Hardrock veteran and well know Texas ultrarunner, Joe Prusaitis.
I can really only hope that my training has been sufficient because I have really had to walk a fine line between getting in my mileage and making sure that I recovered from the late season knee injury that kept me from finishing my last two ultras. I think I am ready but I approach the ultra distance with a great deal of respect and don’t take anything for granted. Having said that I do think I’ll finish, I need to finish this race, I need an ultra comeback.
The funny thing is I really did decide to do this race because I really like the buckle. Yes, I admit it, I am simple enough that I will actually put myself through 100K of Texas hill country, rocks and cactus just to get something cool to fasten my belts.

Good luck!
ReplyDeleteAnd I have always wondered how one puts a belt buckle on a belt... Mine are all sewn on so is there belt disassembly required to put on a cooler buckle?
Buckle up!! (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you, Geek Girl, Pirate, and all the others taking on the Bandera challenge.
Ooooooooh! So pretty! I covet the buckle!
ReplyDeleteHave a great run!
Good luck to you! You've been training at altitude, so you should be just fine in the Texas Hill Country.
ReplyDeleteYou talk like running for the buckle is a bad thing. :) Best of luck and we'll be looking for a good report.
ReplyDeleteDanielle, you need a belt that accepts buckles. It will have clasps or snaps that open to swap buckles. You need one.
I'm doing a race tomorrow that I am woefully underdone for, so I can get the t-shirt (and enough points to have a crack at the series title....)
ReplyDeletehave a great race SB!
Best wishes to you!
ReplyDeleteThat photo makes me think that Tom Hanks was a pretty good runner back in the day. I wonder...
Run Brian run!!
ReplyDeleteGive us a report soon..
Good luck out there. Hopefully everything goes well.
ReplyDeleteThat is a cool buckle.
ReplyDeleteTHERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. See my posts on rules and criteria for entering a race.
ReplyDeletep.s. - good job! You did great!
ok Brian, you know you are "killing" your readers in making us wait for a race report...
ReplyDeleteGood luck on all your crazy goals. That's so funny because all my friends &
ReplyDeleteco-workers think I'm crazy for training for Irons. But you my friend are in a
whole other category. You definitely work in the right field;)
